Our HistoryThe Southern California Council of Charitable Gift Planners (SoCalCGP) has a rich history in the region. Formerly the Los Angeles Council of Charitable Gift Planners (LACGP), the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning of Greater Los Angeles, and the Planned Giving Roundtable of Southern California, we evolved into SoCalCGP in 2023 with the addition of the Santa Barbara Council of Charitable Gift Planners, followed by the San Diego Planned Giving Partnership in 2024. Guided by our core values of inclusion, community, integrity, education, and leadership, SoCalCGP builds on the legacy of three pioneering councils that have fostered networking and education for planned giving professionals for decades. Founded in 1980, LACGP was among the first planned giving associations in the U.S., originally serving professionals from San Diego to Santa Barbara. Our shift from three distinct councils to one— SoCalCGP — reflects this longstanding regional commitment. By uniting expertise, resources, and connections, we strengthen our shared goal of advancing best practices and expanding the impact of charitable gift planning. As one of the largest councils affiliated with the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners, SoCalCGP strives to be among the most innovative, inclusive, and dynamic in the country. Our members represent a broad range of nonprofit organizations— including universities, hospitals, community foundations, and museums — as well as professional services such as law, finance, wealth management, accounting, and auction houses. We offer educational sessions, the Western Regional Planned Giving Conference, Planned Giving 101, webinars, and networking opportunities throughout the year. We recognize that our success is tied to the success of our members. Through education, research, and advocacy, we support and serve charitable gift planners and trusted advisors in helping donors and clients achieve their philanthropic dreams. Our board and volunteers are committed to providing valuable, accessible, and regionally focused learning and networking opportunities — both in-person and online. We invite you to join us in shaping the future of charitable gift planning and philanthropy in Southern California. Our Mission:
