The Southern California Council of Charitable Gift Planners (SoCalCGP), one of the nation’s largest and oldest councils affiliated with the National Council of Charitable Gift Planners, is a vibrant network of professionals dedicated to advancing philanthropy. Our members include charitable gift planners and trusted advisors — wealth managers, trust and estate attorneys, accountants, consultants, and more — all committed to helping donors achieve their philanthropic goals.

Members receive discounted registration to SoCalCGP events.

  • Attend educational sessions (formerly known as “general meetings”) across Southern California, as well as webinars, mixers, and roundtables featuring industry leaders, at discounted rates. Some programs are offered in collaboration with local estate planning councils and AFP chapters.

  • Annual Traditional Membership: $150
  • Annual Season Pass Membership: $300

The Los Angeles sessions are typically held on the third Thursday of January, March, September, and November, with other sessions and additional professional development opportunities offered throughout Southern California. Membership Details

  • Memberships are individual, not transferable or refundable.
  • We do not offer corporate memberships at this time.
  • Memberships are on a 12-month cycle, with an anniversary date assigned upon joining. Regardless of your join date, you will receive benefits for a full 12 months.

Affiliation with NACGP

SoCalCGP is affiliated with the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (NACGP). Please note that membership in NACGP is not included with your SoCalCGP membership, and vice versa. You may join NACGP directly by visiting their website at charitablegiftplanners.org.

Standards of Practice

SoCalCGP follows the Model Standards of Practice for the Charitable Gift Planner, a voluntary code of professional conduct for gift planners and donor advisors. NACGP has an Ethics Committee available to address member concerns and provide guidance on the Model Standards. All councils affiliated with NACGP are required to ratify these standards.
